Summary - The Phoenix Fund, a special fund of the New World Foundation, maintains a growing database of more than 600 organizations here in the US and abroad. The Fund catalogs each organization under more than 45 sub-categories using over 80 fields of data. In addition to publishing the material in print annually, Phoenix Fund also maintains an online database which houses all the data. The old database software being used had become unwieldy and ill-equipped to handle a large volume of data and to perform sophisticated searches. To address their needs, I developed a system that is capable of performing extensive and detailed searches by utilizing a robust relational database. The system is web-enabled, allowing administrators to maintain the database and public users to access a wealth of information from anywhere. I also created utilities programs to facilitate emailing, mailing, and the publishing process. |
